Escaping Ohio's seasonal depression.

Ohio winters are not exactly something to revel in. It's been too cold to be outside to paint - but I had an opportunity to spend a few days in St. Augustine, Florida - and let me say early Spring in Florida is where it's at. Winter blues were lifted, vitain D was procured (maybe in excess), and a couple paintings were produced.
I've been eager to get out and utilize the new Edge easel, and what better way to test it out than to pack it on an airplane? And even better, I wans't hassled over carrying paints and spirits.

I spent the first day exploring, dropping Google Map pins, and reference pictures. Made a point to spend an afternoon browsing the MANY galleries throughout the city. And then finally settled on working from a pier overlooking The Bridge of Lions. A couple hours passed and the direct full sun proved too much for my Yankee skin, so had to call it quits earlier than anticipated.
Since shade was clearly necessary, and I did not attempt to wrangle the big umbrella onto the plane, I sought out cooler respite at Our Lady le Leche's serene gardens. I have a cluster of palm trees an honest go, but dang, they're kind of difficult! But, I was happy to get outside again, and kick off what will hopefully be a season full of painting.
